History of Fields
The Community Fields’ project began in the Fall of 1998 as a result of new growth in the community and the pressures of several unrelated municipal and private projects in the immediate area. The project was completed and dedicated in June of 2001. They have become a beacon for all that is good in this progressive community with a small town flair. The new fields inspired the varsity high school baseball team to win its first state championship in the Class C Boys Division in 2001. The fields are home to the Flat Rock Community High School boys and girls varsity and junior varsity baseball and softball teams. After completion of the school season, the fields are utilized by the Flat Rock Area Little League, church leagues, adult softball leagues and many tournaments throughout the summer. In July of 2003, Community Fields were one of five sites to host the National AAU Final Baseball Championships for 16 year-old boys division. The Community Fields have not only created excitement and momentum for recreation activities, but are often sited by new residents in the community as a major reason for relocating to the City.
